FEDERER BEATS TSONGA

Roger Federer has defeated Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France in an exhibition match played at Bogota on Friday. Federer won the match by 7-6, 2-6, 6-3. Approximately, 14000 people were present at Bogota’s EL Campin Coliseum to watch the match and they were continuously chanting the name of Roger Federer. Their favourite player stood up to their expectations and put up a fantastic performance. This was the 13th match between these two players and Federer has won 9 of those matches.

This was the sixth exhibition match for Roger Federer on the South American tour. Out of those 6 matches, he won four and was defeated in a couple of matches. He played at three different locations i.e. Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires and Bogota. Wherever the matches were played, the people turned up in huge numbers.

The match against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga was Federer’s last match before the Australian Open which is going to start from 14th of January.  Federer is one of the favourites to regain the title according to the latest tennis betting online odds.

After the match against Tsonga, when Federer was asked if he enjoyed his tour of South America, He said, “Yes, I enjoyed it quite a lot. Wherever I went to play, people gave me immense support which was really pleasing. Even today, a number of people came to watch the match. I want to thank the people of South America for giving me great reception.”

When asked about his plans about the upcoming season, Federer said, “At the moment, I am just looking forward to having a bit of rest. The last few weeks have been pretty tiring and I am completely exhausted at this point of time. I just want to spend some time at home. I will start the season with the Australian Open and hopefully, would perform well in that tournament.”
