FEDERER BEATS FALLA

Roger Federer has defeated Alejandro Falla of Colombia in the first round of the Men’s tennis singles tournament of London Olympics. Federer won the match by 6-3, 5-7, 6-3. The world no. 1, Federer, wasn’t able to win the match easily. The Colombian player gave him a run for his money. In the second set, Falla played some brilliant tennis and shocked Federer with his fantastic shots. This is not the first time that Federer has struggled against Falla. In the first round of the Wimbledon Championship in 2010, Falla had made Federer struggle for five sets. However, Federer had won that match.

Federer started the match pretty well. He broke the service of Falla in the first set once and then held his service in the remaining games to win the set 6-3. He did the same in the second set and was serving for the match at the score of 5-3. But, suddenly, things started going wrong for him. Falla broke the service of Federer twice and held his service in the 10th and 12th game to win the second set by 7-5. In the very first game of the third set, Federer got a breakthrough and then he held his service in the second game to take a lead of 2-0. But, Falla came back strongly and broke the service of Federer in the fourth game to level the score 2-2. But, federer again broke falla’s service in the seventh game to make the score 4-3. Federer held his service in the next game and the score card was showing 5-3. Thereafter, Falla failed to hold his service in the 9th game and lost the match.

Federer seemed to be quite impressed by Falla. After the match, he said that Falla is a classy player and he made him work very hard. However, Federer seemed to be relieved after winning the match. In the second round, Federer will play against Julien Benneteau of France.
