Li Na has defeated Eugenie Bouchard of Canada in the second round of the Rogers Cup. The Chinese Superstar, who has been ranked 11th in the official rankings of WTA, won the match in the straight sets by 6-4, 6-4. The Canadian youngster, who had got entry through wildcard, wasn’t able to give a tough fight to Li Na.
Bouchard had started the tournament with a bang and defeated Shahar Peer of Israel in the first round match. The local fans were expecting her to pull off another big upset, but, she didn’t manage to do that.
Li Na got the first breakthrough in the third game of the first set and took a lead of 2-1. She enhanced the lead by holding her service in the next game, and kept this lead till the end of the set and won the first set by 6-4. Such was Na’s superiority, fans betting at Bet Victor were being offered ridiculous odds on a Bouchard win.
In the second set, both the players held their service in the first six games and the scorecard was saying 3-3. Li Na managed to get a breakthrough in the seventh game and then she held her service in the next game to make the score 5-3. Before the start of the tenth game, the score was 5-4 and Bouchard had to break Li Na’s service to extend the match further, but, the Canadian youngster wasn’t able to get a breakthrough and lost the match.
After winning the match, Li Na praised her opponent. She told BetVictor that Bouchard is a highly talented youngster and she played incredibly well. As per Li Na, Bouchard is young at the moment and she will become more dangerous after getting a bit of experience. Li Na said that she is happy to start the tournament on a good note and hopefully, she would perform well in the upcoming matches as well. In the third round, Li Na will play against Sara Errani of Italy.
