Former world number one Roger Federer is looking to make the perfect start to the New Year by winning the first event of the season, the Mubadala World Tennis Championship in Abu Dhabi where she will compete with the likes of Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal. Federer has never been able to win the season opener at Abu Dhabi where he finished second last year after losing in the final to his great rival Rafael Nadal.
Federer did not have the best of seasons last year, not having managed to win a single Grand Slam tournament, an unprecedented occurrence in his tennis career where people had grown accustomed to seeing him win trophy after trophy but he had to sit in the background while the likes of Rafael Nadal and new world number one Novak Djokovic stole the show. But according to the Swiss Master, this is a new season and many things can happen this year.
Roger Federer, who went on a 17 match unbeaten streak at the end of last season that culminated in him winning the ATP Masters Series said that it was the best finish of his career and he was extremely proud of what he had done but that is all in the past and he is looking forward to the new season and wants to start it off by winning the exhibition tournament and gain some valuable match practice ahead of the first Grand Slam of the year, the Australian Open that begins on the 16th of January, 2012.
He also thanked the fans for the support that they have shown him throughout his career but Roger Federer is well aware of the fact that he must win trophies to keep them on his side and for that, he is willing to rediscover himself all over again.
