The last season was one of the worst seasons that Roger Federer has ever had in his career. He got defeated in a total of 17 matches, the most matches lost by him in a season in the last one decade or so. He didn’t manage to reach the title round of any of the 4 Grand Slams and he also kept struggling with his fitness throughout the season.
When a great player loses his form, it hurts his ego as well. It’s not easy to be in that situation and to recover from that situation. But, there are some sportsmen who are very humble by nature and are temperamentally better than the others. They don’t let their failures affect them mentally and manage to come out of the tough phases. Federer is one of those sportspersons. Even when Novak Djokovic made a statement about his decreasing intensity on the court, he remained silent. He knows that his performance was not quite up to his abilities in the last season and the only way he can answer his critics is by performing well on the court.
The first tournament in which Federer is going to participate in the upcoming season is the Brisbane International Tennis tournament. He is looking forward to it and to get prepared mentally for it, he has made his way to Australia a bit earlier.
Talking to the reporters a few days back, the Swiss maestro said, “I have lost my way a little bit and I have to find it. That’s the reason; I am here in Australia pretty early.”
“I am desperately waiting for the Brisbane tournament. I have been training hard and I hope that I start the season in a good way.”
Federer’s family is also expected to join him in Australia later this month.
